Led by Zoe Ombler from The Epicurean Sailor we’ve four different classes to book each day.

The Little Chefs Den’ children’s classes offer an opportunity to inspire and spark your child’s imagination & confidence in the kitchen, as well as offer them a chance to hang out (& even take a few selfies!) with industry great Chris Bavin. All classes last around 45mins and are open to budding chefs aged 7-15yrs old. Everyone will receive a Great Wight Bite cooking apron and Little Chefs Den certificate signed by Chris.

Or join one of our new adults classes. We are delighted to be joined by the islands very own GC from Smoking Lobster who is at the forefront of the Island’s incredible food scene for a Sushi & Sake Masterclass.

THE CHEFS DEN PRESENTS……

Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September

Class 1: KIDS CLASS

Timing: 10:45am – 11.30am

Authentic Spaghetti Carbonara

Do you have a passion for pasta? Carbonara is a classic and one of the most delicious and comforting dishes to learn.

Class 2: KIDS CLASS

Timing: 12.15pm – 1.00pm

With a buttery base and jam packed with delicious strawberries what’s not to love!

Class 4: ADULT CLASS

Timing: 3.15pm – 4.15pm

Sushi Masterclass with GC from the Smoking Lobster

GC is back by popular demand and his sell out little chefs class last year!

Learn to make your own fresh sushi and perfect sushi rice. Feeling brave? Why not try some wasabi and pickled ginger with your creations?! Finish the class with a drinks tasting!

Class 5: ADULT CLASS

Timing: 5pm – 6pm

Canapés and Drinks Masterclass

Mermaid have teamed up with Zoe Ombler from the Epicurean Sailor to create a cooking class with a difference. You’ll be creating a delicious range of canapes that puts Mermaid’s craft gin, rum and vodka at the heart of each dish.

Feast on a range of beautiful canapes using the finest local ingredients perfectly including Beef Carpaccio with Mermaid Pink Gin, Bloody Mary Isle of Wight Tomato tartlets with Mermaid Salt Vodka and Mermaid Spiced Rum and lime prawn skewers.

Even better all funds are donated to the IOW Food Bank

Dietary & Allergy Notes: Cereals containing gluten, sulphites, Celery, fish, milk, crustaceans, sulphites

KIDS CLASSES

  • Kids Classes are £20 per child, last approx. 45mins and need to be booked in advance.
  • Everyone receives a Great Wight Bite chefs apron and a certificate to adorn the fridge door!
  • Suitable for all children aged 6yrs – 14yrs old. Under 12’s may need to be supervised by an adult or parent.
  • Tables and some equipment are shared between two children
  • When booking please advise us if your child has any allergies, intolerances or special assistance needs. We will try and cater for everyone where possible.
  • The festival organisers will take every step to ensure the cooking classes are safely delivered. They accept no responsibility for any injuries and by booking your child into a class you accept these terms.

ADULT CLASSES

  • Adult Class Sushi Class is £40 and is 1 hour and includes a Sake tasting at the end of each class
  • Mermaid X Epicurean Sailor Canapes and Drinks Masterclass is £15 and all funds are donated to the IOW Food Bank
  • Please arrive 10 mins before your class time.
  • When booking please advise us if you have any allergies, intolerances or special assistance needs.
  • Attendee’s must be over 18
